11-year-old girl shoots man stabbing her mom in Oklahoma CityPosted by J Craig on October 2, 2014
An 11-year-old girl from Oklahoma City shot a man as she was defending her mother and siblings from an attack on September 24th in their mobile home. 25-year-old Leonard Demon Henry, the mother’s ex-boyfriend broke a glass door and proceeded to stab her in the head and neck. Police say the children’s mother was stabbed multiple times.
Five children were inside the home when Henry broke in and began his attack, the victim’s younger daughter found their gun and shot the man twice. Police say one of the children then called 911. Henry was able to run away after being shot, but police caught up to him soon after and arrested him. Both Henry and the victim were taken to a hospital. Police say the man’s condition is serious and woman is stable.
Just last week, the victim had filed a protective order against Henry in Cleveland County, saying that he had abused her children. This piece of paper obviously meant nothing to him and due to his disregard for the law and his ignorance, he would find out what people do when they need to defend themselves. It just so happened to occur courtesy of an 11-year-old who knows how to operate a firearm.
Not all situations are the same obviously with young children and guns are concerned, but with the proper training and guidance, children can effectively and safely learn about firearm responsibility. This brave young girl obviously possessed the intelligence and proper training in order to squarely land two shots to the perpetrator. A good girl with a gun in Oklahoma City triumphs over an bad guy on a mission to kill.
Both the suspect and victim are in the hospital, and expected to recover. The children are now in protective custody.
