Dear editor,

Most folks don’t realize that there is a primary election coming up on May 19th. This is the perfect time for Kentuckians to take action. Rather than wait for the general election, you can really be a difference maker by getting out to the primary and voting for the best candidates for Kentucky. There is always low voter turnout in the primary and we really need to be responsible and do our part.

The best candidate for Governor in Kentucky is Matt Bevin. I have had the opportunity to meet Matt and speak with him about his position on issues. The issue that is near and dear to my heart is Common Core State Standards. Matt feels, like most Kentucky parents, that we need to provide the best education for our children. CCSS does not do that. These standards were written by trade organizations, not educators! There were only two educators on the review board and both were vehemently against them. Kentucky was the first state to adopt them and it was before the standards were even complete. Matt Bevin wants to repeal CCSS and return control to local schools and parents! We must have leadership in office willing to listen to the will of the parents and the people in order to get this done.

I’ll highlight where Matt stands on a few other issues that are pressing our state and our nation. Matt is pro 2nd Amendment, 100 percent pro-life, he wants to deal with pension reform, rein in spending, he will bring jobs to Kentucky, enact a pro-business “right to work” legislation and improve Kentucky’s healthcare.

Matt, along with his running mate, Jenean Hampton, is not indebted to anyone in D.C. or Frankfort for that matter. With this team you will get nothing but dedication for Kentucky and the will of its people.

Please go to www.mattbevin.com to research him for yourself. Then get out there and vote! It is a privilege that we have in this nation and one that should not be taken lightly. In my opinion the only thing worse than an unregistered voter is an uneducated voter so please do your homework.

Sincerely,

Laura Arrasmith
Maysville, Kentucky
