ISIS  continues to kill innocent people in Iraq and Syria. However, one day in a small town in Iraq a miracle happened.

A Christian man we shall call Peter who prefers to be anonymous and not publish his real name out of safety concerns, lived in a small town in Iraq. ISIS terrorists attacked this town and all the inhabitants were arrested. After the terrorists arrested them, they had their ID cards checked. ISIS could recognize by their name on the ID card if the inhabitants were Shia or Sunni Muslims. Many of the people in the town were Shia and because ISIS supports Sunni Islam, they killed 97 innocent people. Soon after, they had to check Peter’s ID card. He showed his card and was afraid of being killed like all the others before him. But when he showed his card, the terrorist just said: “You are one of us, you can go“.

Peter’s real name is a name used by many Sunni Muslims, so ISIS just assumed he was one of them. Luckily enough they only checked the front side of the ID card, because had they had checked the backside, Peter would have been killed as well. On the backside, it says that Peter is a Christian.

That day Peter really felt that God was with him, and he now tries to pay back God for being there when he really needed him.

Instead of leaving the area, Peter now works as a relief worker in Northern Iraq. He says that he can bring hope back in the eyes of the refugees, just as God brought hope back in his eyes that day he met the devil.
