This past week has dealt our great nation a heavy blow and we must be reminded that life is a precious gift. Life is beautiful and we should not take it for granted. From the terrorist act in Boston to the tragedy in West, Texas, we Americans come together for the love of one another. We are America. We are the strength. We stand proud. We hold this great nation together. Many nations from around the world look for us as a beacon of hope and the strength we possess. We stand for liberty and freedom, but we have many enemies because of the values we cherish. We should not apologize for these values nor should we allow those who do us harm to go unpunished. We will surely remember these tragic events, but let us not forget those who perished and those who fought to keep us safe.

Here is a wonderful quote from President Ronald Reagan I will share:

“The greatness of America doesn’t begin in Washington; it begins with each of you—in the mighty spirit of free people under God, in the bedrock values you live by each day in your families, neighborhoods, and work-places. Each of you is an individual worthy of respect, unique and important to the success of America. And only by trusting you, giving you opportunities to climb high and reach for the stars, can we preserve the golden dream of America as the champion of peace and freedom among the nations of the world.” – President Ronald Reagan, November 5, 1984

At first, we were faced with bombs exploding at the Boston Marathon, leaving many injured and three people dead. This was the first act of terrorism of our soil since the Fort Hood, Texas massacre back in November of 2009. Before that, it was the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001. Then we heard about another explosion down in Texas. This occurred at the fertilizer plant in the very small town of West. As of today, the death count is rising because they are still finding bodies as they do their cleanup. According to Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), at least sixty people are missing. Many residents lost their homes, their vehicles, and their loved ones as the plant erupted shooting out flames destroying much in its path. Here is a video of a father and son sitting in their vehicle watching the plant burn from a distance as they are greeted with fear:

America has certainly seen heartache this week and we have experienced much pain, but we will not let these events get our spirits down. We will continue to keep our faith. We will continue to appreciate and respect the values in which this great nation was founded upon. We will do what we always do, which is stand tall and be proud. We will deal with what transpired and we will get back to work. That is America. We do not stay down nor do we allow some cowards who thought they could weaken our nation to get the best of us. They failed. Yes, we seen many injured and lives that were lost, but we’re still here. We are still breathing and we are still America. Those who can no longer be with us will not be forgotten. We sought out those who were responsible and found justice thanks to the sacrifices and hard work from many proud Americans. This occurred in a matter of days. Those cowardly scumbags messed with the wrong city. They messed with the wrong country. We are America. You do not mess with America.

We know that there is a lot of work left to do regarding the war on terror because we have many enemies, but we will do what we must. We have those who do not believe in our values or care about human life. Liberty and freedom does not sit well with these types of people. Islamic terrorists do not value what we do. They do not believe in our principles. They look at America with disgust and wish to exterminate us. We must stop sleeping at the wheel. We have to do more in making sure that national security is a major priority once again. We will defend this great nation against all enemies both foreign and domestic. We will not surrender. We will not bow down. More importantly, we will certainly not retreat, we will re-load.

ap_texas_explosion_30_dm_130418_wgLet us not forget the tragic event from West, Texas as many of our brothers and sisters are going through a very difficult time as well. They have to cope with loss just as those in Boston have to. God blessed Texas before and rest assured that he is still there in the lone star state. Many angels have swept in to help with the residents of West and continue to show their love and support for a great community. America has not forgotten about West due to what transpired in Boston. America is standing behind both towns as they pick up their pieces, mourn their dead, and show their love and support towards one another. This is what our great nation is about. Helping our fellow Americans and being there for them in times of need. We are America. We are strong and we are proud. We will continue to be an exceptional nation with exceptional people. Our greatness does not begin in Washington, but it does in each of us with our strength, our spirit, and our love for country. That is America. That is what our enemies do not want to mess with. We come together. We stand tall as one nation. Now as we go through these tragedies just remember that we are all Texans. We are all Bostonians. Simply put, we are America.
