Wendy Davis and Leticia Van dePutte refuse comment on Parker subpoenas served to Houston Pastors.Posted by Michael Smith on October 15, 2014
In a stunning move from Houston’s first openly lesbian Mayor Annise Parker, subpoena’s have been issued to Houston area Christian Pastors to ‘turn over’ their sermons or face criminal contempt of court charges.
The Houston Mayors office said that Mayor Parker will not comment or explain why she wants to review the sermons.
Todd Starnes of Fox News reported:
“ADF attorney Stanley suspects the mayor wants to publicly shame the ministers. He said he anticipates they will hold up their sermons for public scrutiny. In other words – the city is rummaging for evidence to “out” the pastors as anti-gay bigots.”
Texas is currently in the midst of it’s midterm elections where Wendy Davis is running for the Executives Chair against Greg Abbott, and Leticia Van dePutte is running to replace outgoing Lt. Governor David Dewhurst against Republican Dan Patrick. Both are supported by Mayor Parker who has backed and organized for them in the Houston area.
Texans deserve to know if either or both support their fellow Democrat in this move to demoralize Christians.
When called, both Davis’s and Van dePutte’s offices declined comment.
Texans of all political ideologies should be very afraid of any politician in either party that will use extreme measures like Mayor Parker. Texans should also want to know and demand of their statewide candidates an explanation of their position on Parker’s subpoenas.
Texans have the right to know if these candidates, who have publicly stood arm and arm with GLAAD and the LGBTQ community, would further a radical agenda of this perfidious nature in Austin.
