What Support for Israel? Silence from Congress.Posted by Eileen Hart on March 13, 2014
Yesterday a barrage of over 30 rockets and mortars reigned down on Israel from Gaza. Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack against Eretz Yisrael. This is the first attack since Pillar of Defense in 2012. It has been relatively quiet in the year of 2013. Islamic Jihad said this attack was in retaliation for the IDF killing three of its terrorists. They insisted an ongoing campaign will ensue.
The holiday of Purim is upon the Jewish people. It tells the story of Queen Esther saving the Jewish people from annihilation from Haman and his sons. We celebrate Purim by dressing up in costume, sounding the grogger when Haman’s name is mentioned when reading from the Megillah. Hamas and Islamic Jihad are notorious for terrorist attacks on Israel whenever one of our holidays is about to take place.
The Israeli Airforce launched a massive airstrike in Gaza shortly after 10:00 pm last night after the barrage of rockets came into Israel. It was the largest of its kind in two years. The IAF struck 29 strategic targets mainly in the coastal area of Khan Younis and Rafah. So far, three terrorists were destroyed. There were NO JEWISH CASUALTIES. Every Israeli within range of the rockets were ordered to stay in the bomb shelters. Thank G-d no loss of Jewish life. The Israeli Airforce returned safely back to their base.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netenyahu said, “If there is no quiet in the South, there will be noise, lots of noise, and that is putting it mildly.” That can only happen if the hideous Hillary Clinton and Catherine Ashton don’t stick their noses in Israel’s business and demand for restraint.
I have been looking for articles, links, and any statement online from members of Congress and Senate condemning yesterday’s attacks on Israel. I CAN’T FIND THEM ANYWHERE. In the past, members of both houses on both sides of the aisles always came out with a press conference denouncing Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Yesterday was a disgrace of epic proportions that not one person came out hand in hand telling Israel, “We stand with you, Israel.” Not one Congressman or Senator announced, “Israel, you are not alone.” What a phony, disgusting display of weakness in a moment when our greatest ally needs the one friend they can count on the most. Our American Government. They should have come out no matter what time of the day it was and waved the Menendez-Kirk bill in their hands demanding Obama sign it to put sanctions back on Iran. The entire trail of weapons leads back to Iran. The lifting of sanctions is enabling Iran to advance the creation of nuclear weapons, assorted missiles and smuggle them to Gaza. Fortunately, the IDF seized weapons en route to Gaza. This goes to show you that President Obama’s delusions of diplomacy grandeur emboldens enemies of Israel. And where were members of Congress praising Israel’s strength to deter attacks on its citizens? TOTAL AND COMPLETE SILENCE.
Instead of showing bipartisan support for Israel, guess what they are going to spend their time doing today? The House is spending two hours today debating “Water Rights Protection Act of 2014”.
I am so tickled pink to see the priorities are straight.
